Abstract
The creative industry is a new opportunity in economics because it proposes an industry bow supported by new and fresh ideas. This concept puts human resources with its intellectuality as a transformer economic perspective manufacturing industry into a creative industrial economy. Through several policies and legal bases, the government of Indonesia pays particular attention to the sector. Since the development of this industry, many entrepreneurs succeed, but also not few leave the failure story of several groups of businesses. This research explores the role of innovation as a key to SME's development to then support economic development. Qualitative descriptive is a method that is deemed appropriate to conduct this exploration. As an industry that puts new and fresh ideas and ideas into creative industries relies on innovation. At the conceptual level of the creative industry and innovation has a strong relationship. At the level of practice in this study also found innovation so key to the success of the creative industry in maintaining its business activities. This has an advanced impact on the support of local economic growth.
