Abstract

Spinach is a type of green vegetable that has a high enough vitamin and mineral value so that it is widely consumed by humans, besides that spinach can be grown all year round in Indonesia, the harvest time is only 3 weeks and its maintenance is not difficult. Therefore, this plant is one of the plants of choice for farmers in Klumpang Kebun Village, Hamparan Perak District and its surroundings to be used as a source of livelihood. Although it is quite simple in its cultivation, this plant requires quite a lot of water for its growth of about 8 liters/m2. Of course, this becomes a big problem if the cultivated area reaches tens of hectares, it takes a longer time to water these plants every day. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to design an automatic watering system for spinach plants based on soil moisture content and nutrient content. To achieve the objectives of this research, the steps taken are collecting data, analyzing data, designing circuits, making programs, implementing circuit designs and testing design implementations. The method used in this study is a demonstration application. From the results of the tests that have been carried out still using one soil moisture sensor, it is known that the automatic plant watering system can work at all levels of water content with the success rate of the system reaching 100%. For testing using nutrition sensors has not been done
