Abstract

This study focuses on discussing the role of digital trade (e-commerce) as a new strategy or method for Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) through the concept of people's economic empowerment. This strategy is an adaptation step to survive and transform into leading Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in the era of industrial revolution 4.0 and during the Covid-19 pandemic. The writing of this article is based on field observations to find the latest phenomena supported through a study of the literature (books, magazines, newspapers, journals, etc.) and interpreting them objectively through in-depth analysis of problems to find solutions. The study results explain that the Indonesian government places Indonesia as the most prominent digital economy country in Southeast Asia. It is estimated that the world's Muslim population in 2030 will increase rapidly. As the largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia has the potential to increase the export of its halal products to the global market, which is very involved with MSME actors. The COVID-19 pandemic season, which paralyzed most people's activities, made e-commerce trends very appropriate to be massively optimized.
