Abstract

This research was conducted based on the researcher's awareness in responding to the phenomenon of the lack of demand and public understanding of the implementation of mathematics in everyday life. So it is necessary to have real cases carried out by researchers in order to provide a better understanding of the use of mathematics in everyday life. This research was conducted in the community of Lau Guma village. The background in village unit cooperatives or called KUD which was visited by researchers, it was clear that they still lacked understanding of the implementation of mathematics carried out by cooperative members where they only used simple and one-on-one calculators in doing calculations. The type of this research is descriptive research that uses the case study method, which includes observation, interviews or interviews, documentation, and field notes. From the results of the research conducted as for the application of mathematics in KUD is social arithmetic where one branch of mathematics that discusses the calculation of profit, loss, capital and so on. The focus of the research is to find out to what extent the implementation of social arithmetic is used in KUD in Lau Gumba and To explain and explain that Mathematics is a science that can be used in everyday life, of course we have to be more serious about studying it, not avoiding it.
